In the third quarter, the successful Volleyball Club from Nové Mesto nad Váhom became the winner in internal voting for the best project among colleagues in GD-TEAM. One of the most popular team sports put down roots in Nové Mesto nad Váhom back in 1925, at the time when volleyball was in the egg. That is why the volleyball club, which is one of the oldest in Slovakia, could later be established. Its history goes back to 1945 when the club and its players presented themselves at a tournament in Květná, which finally established the tradition of volleyball, which since then has represented the sport in Nové Mesto perfectly. Based on this fact, we can conclude that the Nové mesto nad Váhom Volleyball Club is one of the oldest volleyball clubs, and the tradition itself is very important for the club and it gives appropriate weight to it. The Nové Mesto nad Váhom Volleyball Club is a civic association whose goal is to organize top-level volleyball in the location of VK headquarters and the immediate area with all forms of training and regeneration process.
Current Season
In the current season, the club has up to 193 members, of which 130 are the registered players of the Nové Mesto nad Váhom Volleyball Club. The club itself is basically a family club, as the generations of volleyball players have grown up in it, and the granddaughters and grandsons of former players are already active in it. Registered players are active in 14 youth competitions and two senior competitions. The women in the extra league – the highest competition – ended up winning the first ever bronze medals. In the club, they have also spent time with the youngest children aged three to seven for a long time. There are approximately 50 children in these groups, and the training is focused on the general development of speed, coordination and motor skills. As is already clear from the above-stated, the emphasis is mainly on youth teams and work with children. The club‘s aim is for players to go through all the youth categories and then join the club‘s senior teams. The step-by-step process of training our own players is difficult, but it is clearly the best choice for the club, and we keep our fingers crossed for them.
