Sports Club HŠK Legends

As part of responsible entrepreneurship, gd-Team is involved in multiple areas of interest of company employees. We have already supported the equestrian vaulting of children, floorball for teenagers, basketball, children’s football, figure skating, young gymnasts and swimmers, and we are glad that handball, which is undoubtedly the most popular sport in the town of Šaľa, has been added to sporting opportunities.

Historically, the town’s Handball Club for Women is one of the Slovak elite and has been very successful both in this country and at international level. However, the male club was absent at a higher level, despite the fact that there were two clubs in the town in the past. They were the clubs of talented boys, but without a youth base and higher ambitions. After their merger in the 2014/2015 season, HKM Šaľa fought its way to the Slovak Extraliga. As a result, HKM also had to deal more intensively with youth club activities.

It may be said that the roots of HŠK Legends Šaľa were formed there. Katarína Dubajová – as a several-year-old representative and support of HK Slovan Duslo Šaľa, who in the past also gained valuable experience at the European Championships or abroad (Germany, Denmark, Poland and the Czech Republic), together with Zoltán Bergendi – a successful representative of Slovakia (with experience gained during the Olympic Games), decided in 2017 to fully focus on young people. Since then, they have taught several dozen children to love sports as such – naturally, especially handball. Within this young sports club, these two great people will focus on children from an early age /4+/. They not only teach them the basics of movement, but also teach them respect – both for their opponents and for the game – rules, referees, coaches and themselves. They create an incredible spirit of family and team atmosphere, which becomes the primary driver for children, thus helping them complete demanding training and, for the elderly, matches.

At present, the club gathers two categories – little children and the youngest pupils. In the next competition year, older pupils will be added. The team already has 30 registered players and another 30 work in schools. The aim of the club is not only to get kids off their TV sets, mobile phones and games consoles but also to regularly participate in matches in this country, in national and international tournaments. Katarína and Zoltán make no secret of their highest goals – to raise future representatives. To this end, it is necessary to undergo top-quality training, matches, joint events and training camps.
Funds from gd-Team will be used to purchase sports goods for children (balls, elastic bands, skipping ropes, markers, jerseys, rental of a sports hall) but also to cover travel expenses.
